TANDBERG details benefits from the use of its own solutions

| August 4, 2009

Conferencing solutions provider, TANDBERG, has quantified the benefits it has reaped by using its own solutions and by encouraging its 1,500 employees to telework.

According to TANDBERG, its global employees in the last year have on average made 75,000 video calls each month, replacing unnecessary business travel with “in-person” video calls, effectively saving the company over 21,000 metric tons of carbon emissions, over US$45 million, and about 38,250 productivity hours. Additionally, TANDBERG employees telework one day a week on average, reducing the company’s overall environmental impact from commuting by 20%.

“TANDBERG has long encouraged its 1,500 global employees to telework. As the leading global video conferencing and telepresence provider, we know first-hand how a telework program enhanced by visual communications can help agencies and enterprises realize positive environmental benefits while maintaining the in-person experience typical of an office environment,” said Rick Snyder, TANDBERG President of Americas and Virginia resident in a statement in support of the State of Virginia’s “Statewide Telework Day.”

About half of TANDBERG’s employees in Virginia telework on the day, according to the company, resulting in the elimination of “almost 2 metric tons of carbon emissions and saving almost 100 hours of productivity by not sitting in traffic.”
