A new partnership between APC by Schneider Electric and Imprint Enterprises, a network and data center solutions provider, will link up directly with Colorado and Minnesota power utility Xcel Energy, to provide pre-approved data centre energy efficiency assessments for businesses.

Under the scope of the partnership, APC and Imprint will now offer their assessment services to Xcel Energy’s business customers, who can now take advantage of energy rebates from the power utility. As part of the program, the assessments by the two companies are pre-approved by Xcel, hence qualifying businesses by default.

According to the partners, the comprehensive energy assessments for any sized network closets, IT rooms or data centers will include on-site evaluations, energy savings projections, identification of available rebates for hardware upgrades, and recommendations for operating at peak efficiency.

“As a leader in energy management for data centers, APC is excited to extend our partnership with Imprint Enterprises into our Data Center Assessment Services offer,” said Kevin Brown, Vice President of Global Solution Offer Management for APC. “Our Assessment Services are built upon 10 years of research and leadership within the data center industry, and we look forward to applying this leadership to aid Colorado and Minnesota businesses.”

“Whether managers are interested in demonstrating green business practices or simply want to save money on energy bills, efficiency is the best place to start,” said Xcel Energy Program Manager Ann Garbow. “Our studies can help identify energy saving opportunities in data center equipment, design and operational choices. We offer rebates for both the study and for implementing the recommended measures.”

“With the challenges facing organizations through these economic times, the ability to green the data center not only assists in promoting good ecological stewardship but can impact a company’s bottom line through reduced operational costs. The assessment process provides an excellent tool to taking the guess work out of determining where cost-savings can be reached,” said Imprint Enterprises President Pete McGurran.

The assessment service includes the evaluation of current data center equipment, design, operations and processes, as well as measures to better manage and control energy consumption and costs.
