VMWare puts US$20m in cloud partner, Terremark

Virtualisation pioneer, VMWare, has invested US$20 million in cloud start up Terremark, which uses the company’s software as part of its enterprise cloud offering. According to a statement by Terremark, VMWare’s investment consists of the purchase of 4 million Terremark stock at US$5 each, representing 5% of the company.

Terremark is one of several service providers in VMWare’s vCloud initiative, which ensures that applications developed on VMWare’s platforms inside a corporate IT environment, will run the same way on a cloud infrastructure.
