Vodafone Australia has completed its implementation of network planning and optimisation tools, which its supplier claims will allow the company to design networks more efficiently.

Vodafone selected radio frequency planning tool Atoll and optimisation tool Radioplan as the corporate-wide platform for both its 2G and 3G networks. Australian consulting firm TeleResources is the distributor of Atoll and Radioplan in Australia and New Zealand with clients including Telstra, Vodafone New Zealand and Telecom New Zealand.

“Atoll provided Vodafone with a seamless planning and optimisation tool across all of our Radio Access networks: 2G, 3G, 3G MORAN with Optus, 900 UMTS and for certain will handle any of our future radio technologies… flexible to integrate to other OSS tools and easy to use,” said Vodafone OSS strategy and planning manager Michel Azzi.

With the software supporting all RF technologies including WiMax standard, Atoll allows third party developers to provide complementary solutions, one of which is the Radioplan.

“Atoll is already the leading radio planning tool in the world and now it has also achieved a majority share in the Australian and New Zealand markets,” said TeleResources MD Maurie Dobbin.
