Taiwanese incumbent operator Chunghwa Telecom has signed the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) into its green data centre located in the city of Panchiao, southwest of Taipei. As part of the deal, Chunghwa will help the exchange construct a new online transaction servicing centre to stocks and futures transactions.

The TSE facility is expected to be completed by 2011. Chunghwa will build, supply and manage the new facilities for TSE.

The deal also includes the integration of the electronic transaction platforms operated by the TSE, GreTai Securities Market (OTC), Taiwan Futures Exchange, Taiwan Depository and Clearing Corporations, as well as smaller service providers with access to the platform.

Chunghwa also announced plans to install a big digital content centre inside its green data centre. The digital content centre is designed to serve as a central database and content pool to power Chunghwa’s FTTN plans for the country.
