UK firm claims industry most efficiency computer
UK firm, Cranberry, says its new Small Client, SC20, consumes only 9 watts of power, compared to the average power consumption of 750 watts by a typical mid-range PC.
According to the company’s research, the SC20 offers a 95% reduction in carbon emission compared to the average office PC. The paperback-sized SC20 runs Windows XP Embedded operating system on a 500MHz AMD Geode chip, a 40GB hard drive and comes with a patented Freshboot technology that loads a fresh copy of the OS on every start up, preventing any unauthorised changes to the OS or applications from staying on the system.
